The plan

Three months, then an option for three more

Each month ends with something the board can see.

1

Take stock

  • Map every account and money flow
  • Two named admins on every system
  • 990 filed or extended with your CPA
  • Role profile and posting, written with the HR Committee

2

Set up the routines

  • Written financial controls
  • A monthly packet for the Treasurer and Finance Committee
  • Allen grant tracking and a report calendar
  • Applications in, summarized for the committee

3

Adopt, test, hand off

  • Board adopts the policy, bank dual control goes live
  • An "ED can't be reached" drill
  • Operations manual, and finalists in front of the committee

4–6

Option

  • Overlap with the new ED
  • Finish the search if it runs long

Hiring your next ED

You run the search. I take the heavy lifting off your plate.

The HR Committee is volunteers with day jobs, and a stack of applications is a second job. I'll write the role profile and posting with you, get it out to theatre and nonprofit networks, and read every application against the criteria you set. You get a short summary of each candidate plus the full stack, so nobody gets screened out where you can't see it. Every week you'll know where each candidate stands.

You choose who to interview, you run the interviews, and you make the call. I do the scheduling, the reference checks and the follow-up emails, so the process keeps moving between meetings.

I won't apply for the job, and I don't get a vote. That keeps the search clean.
